Welcome to the Akron Metro Parks Hiking Club Website. The club was founded in 1965 following the first Akron Metropolitan Park District Fall Hiking Spree as a way for people to continue hiking and enjoying the various parks. In celebration of our upcoming 50th anniversary in 2015 we are sponsoring a park bench along the Piney Woods trail in Goodyear Heights Metro Park.

The Ohio and Erie Canalway is a National Heritage Area designated by Congress in 1996 to help preserve and celebrate the rails, trails, landscapes, towns and sites that grew up along the first 110 miles of the canal that helped Ohio and our nation grow.
